Description of the Event

Presenter: Dr. Jielai Zhang

Affiliation: Swinburne University, ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery

Abstract:

A most exciting prospect when venturing out as a scientist is discovering something new, learning secrets about our world and the Universe that nobody knew before. A really great way to do this is opening up a new parameter space to observe the world in a way that hasn’t been done before. In this presentation, I will talk about how the Dragonfly Telephoto Array allowed us to see faint galaxies and parts of galaxies previously not visible, thus opening up a new parameter space of discovery, and the exciting findings made.
