The University of Zambia (UNZA) is a public University located in Lusaka, Zambia and is Zambia's largest and oldest learning institution. The University was established in 1965 and officially opened to the public on 12 July 1966. The motto of the University, SERVICE AND EXCELLENCE has guided the development of the University since its inception. The University of Zambia has over 157 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in several areas of study and has produced more than 100, 000 graduates. The University has contributed to research and technological development for local and international communities and has more than 100 collaborative agreements with renowned Universities worldwide. Furthermore, it provides scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses, and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.

UNZA is partner in several EU funded grants including the Capacity Building for youth in ACP project “Change through Exchange: EChange.02”, the CBHE projects “Building capacity by implementing mhGAP mobile intervention in SADC countries” and “Innovative learning and co-creation of teaching methodology for scaling entrepreneurship in food and agribusiness in Sub-Saharan Africa”. The University of Zambia provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services including lecture rooms, laboratories, student hostels, a public library, housing, sports facilities, clinic, financial aids etc.

Role in the project
WP4: UNZA will be the main beneficiary of this WP and act as link between CMT and the QAC and task forces. UNZA will coordinate effort to facilitate and reinforce inter-regional framework and collaboration on teaching, research, and development in higher education institutions that reflect the scientific and technological needs of society and to identify challenges that cause gender disparities in Africa and achieve gender-inclusive and gender-equitable growth.
WP5: UNZA staff will assist in the organization of the staff mobility and contribute in the assessment of the applications.
WP7: staff from UNZA will collaborate in the organization of events rooted in Zambia and, being in the capital city, facilitate the linkages with the government departments in Zambia.
