Engr NASIRU ALIYU (PhD)

Nasiru Aliyu, an engineer and public servant, is Chief Electrical Engineer at Centre for Basic Space Science, National Space Research and Development Agency based in Nsukka Enugu state Nigeria. He was at various times, Principal Engineer, Senior Engineer, Engineer I and Engineer II at the same centre, Technical and Chief Maintenance Engineer, Darodaz Computers in Kaduna Nigeria. He also served as Research Assistant Electrical Machines Design (Electromagnetics) to Newcastle University UK with over 30 published papers. Engr. Aliyu was Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholar (2016-2020) at Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne England United Kingdom, where he obtained Doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Machines design (Electromagnetics). He also obtained Masters of Engineering (M.Engr) in Power Devices/Electrical Machines in 2014 from University of Nigeria Nsukka and Bachelor of Engineering (B.Engr Honours) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering in 2008 from Federal University of Technology, Yola Nigeria. His professional interests span the field of Electrical Power Devices and Drive system; Electrical Machines design for Radio Telescope as well as development of Axial Flux Machine using Soft Magnetic Composites and Loss Reduction in Axial Flux Machines using Magnetic Shielding. He was actively involved in the design and technical work of CBSS, 6 and 10 metres Radio Telescope together with their auxiliary equipment and drives. Currently, he is a member; Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) USA, Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) UK, Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), Astronomical Society of Nigeria (ASN), Youth for Global Navigation Satellite System (YGNSS) and International Solar Energy Society (ISES).
